The DesignTalks series introduces Fabio Parasecoli’s research on the representation of food in films as a social and political battleground.
On Monday 20 October students from different countries and background just started the academic year off by taking part in the briefing session of the kick-off workshops. These intense one-week projects have been planned in order to facilitate the networking among the students and get them familiar with the tutors and the facilities on campus. The launch of wotrkshops started in the morning continued throughout the day. The students have been tasked with diversified and challenging themes: exploring new vehicle architectures to complete the Alfa Romeo line-up, from the compact SUV to the ultimate supercar, creating prototypes for a new calendar system with Fedrigoni, rethinking the function of the world-famous Cabanon by Le Corbusier, designing a stool investigating those typologies that are more influenced by geographical and cultural factors, imagining the new Lamborghini’s user experience in 2029 or devising innovative food and food-retail concepts. These are the themes currently under development under the supervision of Huub Ubbens, Marti Guixé, Silvia Sfligiotti and many others in order to give an energetic start to the new year. The students are already deeply involved in the design practice and share their creative process with one-another in a project-based situation. More discussion and revision of the work are expected today. Activities will run until Friday 24th when the the result of this intense process will be finally showcased in the school, spread over the various rooms and throughout the building.
