The SPD Campus is located near the lively districts of Bovisa and Isola and is inserted in what was one of the most important industrial centers of the city during the twentieth century, thanks to the presence of big companies such as Candiani, Montedison, Broggi and Fernet Branca.
Classes take place mainly in the classroom, which is why the SPD spaces are equipped with all the necessary equipment to facilitate learning, including computers with Mac OS and Windows operating systems, projectors and a sound system, indispensable to make studying a source of experience.
Classrooms and shared areas are also equipped with Internet Wi-Fi.
In its teaching offerings, SPD provides several laboratory hours to be carried out within the spaces of the STILO building. The equipment available is all high-tech and is accessible to all students.
Starting in the summer of 2023, SPD will set up its own library in the STILO building, providing students with books, newspapers, magazines and audiovisual material to support their learning and research.
The school is connected to the city centre by underground M3 (yellow line): the Maciachini station is a 15-minute walk or you can also take tram 2 to Piazzale Nigra (5-minute walk).
Alternatively, the closest public transport stop is in Piazzale Lugano with buses 90 and 91 that connecting Milan from east to west along the outer ring road.
The nearest train stations are Milano Lancetti (5-minute walk) and Milano Bovisa (15-minute walk).
SPD’s facilities include the H and STILO buildings of the Bodio Center, a complex of 80.000 m² recently renovated thanks to a major redevelopment project. The entire area has been developed with a view to minimising waste and having the least possible impact on the environment.
To improve its sustainability indexes, the Bodio Center uses rainwater to irrigate green areas, recycling bins are distributed and there are recharging stations for bicycles, cars and electric scooters.
Bodio Center is on the north-eastern edge of the ‘Scalo Farini’ area, a neighbourhood at the centre of a major urban regeneration project by OMA and Laboratorio Permanente, which will see the planting of a forest within an immense green space of 300.000 m², conceived as an ecological filter capable of purifying the city’s ecosystem.
Together with the opening of Scalo Farini, an upgrade in mobility is also planned, with new exits for the Lancetti stop, a new tram line and a cycle path connecting Porta Venezia to Bovisa.
With the birth of the Bovisa Design District during the Milan Design Week of 2018, Bovisa emerges as a new district in which to breathe design every day. The district, which has always been attentive to innovation, technology and creativity, begins to connect the most active and original realities of the area, thanks to the presence of the Politecnico di Milano, with its Design department (POLI.design) and Polihub, the Politecnico’s startup incubator.
Today, there are many laboratories and studios that animate the district, including Fablab Milano, Makershub, Repubblica del Design, CTRLZAK, Carlo Contin, FOROSTUDIO + Ugo Architecture and Design and Nilufar Depot.
Not only design, fashion and aperitivo: Milan is full of sports facilities where you can train and practice any sport.
