In a dynamic workshop led by Creative Director Anghela Alò, students from Scuola Politecnica di Design’s Master in Event and Exhibition Design engaged in an immersive creative process to develop seasonal experience programs that bring destinations to life through storytelling and design. The project challenged students to imagine emotionally resonant and strategically sound concepts that express place identity and foster community engagement, targeting contemporary travelers.
Exploring Place Identity Through Narrative
Working in teams, students explored how to design destination experiences rooted in the culture and landscape of a specific location. Their approach combined narrative strategy, spatial and temporal storytelling, and multi-year programming to create holistic experiences that go beyond single events.
From Concept to Presentation
The workshop guided students through a creative development process culminating in two final project presentations, where teams showcased their innovative proposals for seasonal programming that highlight and celebrate the uniqueness of a place, while encouraging local involvement and visitor attraction.
Bridging Creativity and Strategy
Students learned how to balance emotional storytelling with strategic planning, designing experiences that are not only memorable but sustainable and effective in positioning a destination within the competitive hospitality and tourism market.
A Learning Experience Rooted in Real-World Challenges
This workshop provided students the opportunity to apply their skills on a complex brief requiring research, teamwork, and creative problem-solving. It exemplifies how narrative design can become a tool to build stronger connections between places, people, and experiences, key for the future of event and exhibition design.
