In this engaging session, Sundar Raman invites students to explore the art and science behind designing and managing innovative spatial experiences. Through this session, Sundar challenged students to dive into the complex relationship between planning, space management, and technology in creating immersive environments.
Sundar explored the critical role of planning, project management, and understanding the space itself—both philosophically and practically. By examining how institutions like the 9/11 Museum in NYC and the Museum of the Future in Dubai handle high visitor volumes, Sundar revealed how long-term thinking and cutting-edge tools help build sustainable, engaging experiences.
The session also focused on the importance of adopting a “100% failure” mentality when designing immersive environments, emphasizing that mistakes lead to valuable lessons in creating experiences that prioritize end-user happiness.
Through this deep dive, Sundar encouraged students to rethink the intersection of technology and creative space-making, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in spatial design for the future.
Space Talks
This lecture is part of SPACE TALKS, curated by Rana Rmeily, co-founder of the exhibition design collective TheLoveTriangle and former associate partner at Atelier Brückner. Space Talks is a lecture series that explores scenography as a medium of dialogue—between bodies, environments, systems, and stories. Rooted in Rana’s vision of space as both platform and protagonist, the series brings together designers and thinkers who challenge, expand, and reframe the ways we experience and engage with our surroundings. From the architecture of fashion and the spatial power of sound, to sensory intelligence and the evolution of third spaces, each talk opens a distinct lens into scenographic thinking—embracing movement, materiality, technology, and emotion as tools for shaping meaningful, responsive environments.
