Four students from SPD Scuola Politecnica di Design who attended master in Food Design, Julie Kučerovská, Sara Van Veen, Tsao Chia Hua (Vivienne) and Vanessa Falasca have been selected to contribute to taste of connection, an evening dedicated to exploring how food, play, and social interaction can create meaningful connections. Hosted at Mare Culturale Urbano Cascina Torrette, the event will take place on 27 November.
A New Way to Meet
Taste of connection invites participants to connect through a playful, speed, dating inspired format. Designed around food, games, and sensory experiences, the event aims to transform seasonal eating into something accessible, memorable, and fun. International students, young professionals, and anyone curious about experiential learning will be able to meet new people while discovering the flavours of fall.
Designing Through Experience
Julie, Sara, Viviane, and Vanessa are contributing to the creation and development of the event’s experiential journey. Their work focuses on shaping interactions, designing sensory touchpoints, and crafting moments that make education about food feel effortless. From visual cues and playful icons to mini-games based on seasonal produce, the students are helping bring to life a concept where design becomes a tool for connection.
A Purpose-Driven Experience
At its core, taste of connection aims to inspire a renewed appreciation for seasonal eating through engaging experiences. It encourages social connection using food as a catalyst for conversation. It demonstrates how design thinking can enhance community-driven events. With communication entirely in English and a visual identity built around fruit and vegetable icons, the event positions itself as an inviting, inclusive space for Gen Z and Millennials, especially international students seeking meaningful ways to meet others.
Collaboration Through Design
For SPD’s students, taste of connection represents an opportunity to work on a real-world experiential concept that blends food design, interaction, and social engagement. Their contribution reinforces SPD’s commitment to nurturing designers who use creativity to shape culture, inspire community, and make everyday experiences more thoughtful and enjoyable.
