After four months of intense activity, LineaLight Group and SPD announced the winner of the Speeky competion. The contest asked the students from the Master in Industrial Design to create an LED lighting system with an innovative design and an excellent technical performance, taking advantage from the extremely rewarding features of this light source. The work was supervised by the tutors Valerio Sommella and Enrico De Lotto with the support of Manuel Remeggio from LineaLight Group. Point, the luminaire designed by Juliana Cortes, Julio Giannoni and Gur Tayfun, has proved a winning concept both for its lighting capabilities and for its versatile aesthetics. Inspired by the criteria of modularity and installation flexibility, this lamp can be wall or ceiling mounted to equal effect. It consists of one or more extruded profiles connected by circular joints allowing its positioning to be customized through easy adjustment. The light emitted from one side of the sections can be directed towards the mounting surface or towards the observer, thus creating different effects, from brighter lighting to a more suffused, relaxing atmosphere.
The award was given by a jury formed of the managers of the LineaLight Group including Nicola Vendrame, CEO di LineaLight Group, and Andrea Corradi, Commercial and Marketing Director, among the others. In its motivation for the prize, the company makes special mention of Point’s clean and flexible design, achieved through the rational choice of materials and the appropriate usage of the LED technology.
LineaLight Group will now proceed with its production and commercial analysis in view of the possible introduction of the product to the international markets.
Beside the brilliant outcome of the winning design, also the general goal of the partnership with SPD was successfully accomplished: to further stimulate the creativity of young designers and encourage them to envision cutting-edge solutions for the LED light of the future.
