Teo Sandigliano, freelance designer and editorial chief at WeVux, recently shared his expertise with SPD’s BA Design students, offering valuable insights on effectively communicating design projects. Drawing on his experience with leading studios, major publications like Living Corriere della Sera and Interni, and as a jury member for ADI’s Compasso d’Oro, Sandigliano brought a wealth of industry knowledge to the session.
During the presentation, Sandigliano equipped students with practical tools to articulate their ideas clearly and professionally. He emphasized the importance of understanding the core message of a project, identifying the target audience, and choosing the right tone of voice. From selecting appropriate media channels to deciding between formal and informal communication styles, students learned how to adapt their strategies depending on their goals, whether aiming for press coverage, brand collaboration, or personal promotion.
A key focus of the session was on communicating sustainability effectively, a critical topic in today’s design landscape. Sandigliano stressed the need for precision in language, explaining how terms like biodegradable and compostable differ and why it’s essential to use them accurately. Students were encouraged to summarize their research, highlight key points, and provide context to make complex ideas more accessible, all while citing their sources to ensure credibility.
This session offered immense value to the students by bridging the gap between their creative work and professional communication standards. By the end, they had a clearer understanding of how to present their projects in a compelling and industry-ready manner, equipping them with skills to stand out in a competitive design environment.
