The 2014 programme of DesignTalks will start with the lecture of Luciano Perondi, research professor, type and information designer, director…
Call to Action is the title of the special exhibit of SPD Scuola Politecnica di Design for the Milan Design Week 2013. From the 9th to the 14th of April selected works from SPD University Master programmes in Industrial, Interior, Transportation and Car, Visual, Web and Multimedia Design will be on show on the school premises located in the heart of Ventura Lambrate fuorisalone.
Every project should have a call to action, intercept waves of interest, find its own audience. Love, beauty, craft skills, smart insights into new habits and lifestyles are just some of the ingredients. The projects belong to apparently distant universes from car design to editorial, from advertising to furniture design. They all put forward the most distinctive sign of the school approach: its workshop practice, an experimental format open to the relationship with professionals, institutions and companies, from Ogilvy One to Volkswagen Group Design, from Alias to Adidas. The work on exhibit is the result of the school’s research attitude combined with its professional orientation and with the benefit of a cross-cultural context.
The installation avails the various spaces of the school without hiding their original functions. Desks, chairs and all equipments are left in place, the installation is juxtapposed with the everyday appearance of the school as an overlay revealing both the process and the output of the students’ creative work.
The goal of the project designed by Diego Grandi, SPD faculty member, is to trigger a reaction and encourage people to engage in a longlasting dialogue with good design.
