Minji Choi is a Korean multidisciplinary artist, designer and researcher based in Milan, Italy.
Her practice explores the symbolic and ecological dimensions of plants, focusing on gardens, landscape architecture and novel ecosystems as entry points to examine socio-political and ethical questions embedded in nature. Pursuing a research-led and context-sensitive approach, Choi’s interdisciplinary methodology allows her to respond to complexities through both critical inquiry and material explorations, developing works across a variety of media such as painting, photography and installation.
Choi holds a Master of Arts (MA) in Contextual Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven, The Netherlands, a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (BA) from the Sungkyunkwan University, Seoul, South Korea.
Parallelly to her own practice, Choi is committed to fostering critical and experimental learning environments in art and design education, supporting students in defining their own positions as artists and designers through dialogue, analytical thinking and hands-on research.
