Stefano Marzano

With a doctorate in Architecture, Stefano Marzano joined Philips in 1973 and served as chief design officer and CEO of Philips Design between 1991 and 2011. In his twenty years leading design for Philips, he has shaped a design competence and team that has been a key differentiator for the company. He has been successful in making design integral to Philips’ mission, to create meaningful innovations to improve people’s lives.

Marzano has been chief design officer and member of the group management in Electrolux from 2012 until the end of 2013. He is a highly respected and widely published expert on design. His leadership and influence on design and design management has been profound and in 2005, Businessweek named him one of 38 global Best Leaders. During his career he received a number of awards and recognitions from prestigious international institutions.

Giulio Ceppi

A degree in architecture and studies in visual design at SPD, Giulio Ceppi is architect, designer and a researcher at the Politecnico di Milano. His activity is focussed on sensorial design, on the development of new materials and technologies, and on design strategies. He is author of many essays and books about design culture, innovation and creativity and takes part into exhibitions, conferences and seminars worldwide.

In 1999, Ceppi founded Total Tool, a design network with offices in Milan, Buenos Aires, Tokyo. The firm has been included in the ICSID Hall of Fame and has been working with Autogrill, Coop, Danese, Deborah, Fiat, Gruppo Auchan, Illycaffè, Luceplan, Mitsubishi, Motorola, Nestlè, Nike, Nissan, SaporitiItalia, Vertu, Viacom, 3M, Pepsi, among others.
