As the start of the new academic year is getting closer, at SPD we are getting ready to meet the new students. In particular international students arriving in Milan are offered the opportunity to take part in the check-in workshop: this is a meeting designed to make their life in Milan and at the school easier upon arrival. The workshop will be held on Friday 17 October at 11 and at 17. It will be arranged in themed sessions covering practical information (such as immigration procedures, information on transportation in Milan, housing, bank accounts, health assistance, mobile phones etc) and SPD-IULM academic procedures that are required to complete the enrolment process. A short campus tour will also be taken to get the students acquainted with SPD and IULM facilities. At the end of the visit an advisor from the Academic Office will be available to answer specific questions or to book a personal appointment with the students.
For all new and returning students the academic activities of the year 14-15 will officially start on Monday 20 October after a short introduction to the programmes by the coordinators of the Masters’ and OneYear courses. The students will immediately immerse themselves in the new and challenging kick-off workshops lasting for the entire week. These are intense and result-driven experiences organised at the beginning of each year to get the students familiar with the tutors and allow them to share their creative process with the colleagues in project-based situation. Designing a new Lamborghini experience for 2029, creating the prototype of a new calendar system with Fedrigoni, rethinking the function of the Cabanon by Le Corbusier. These are just some of the themes the incoming students will deal with from Monday 20 to Friday 24 October according to a hands-on and interdisciplinary approach.
