For the new DesignTalks event Patricia Urquiola will give a public lecture at SPD on Wednesday, June 30th at 18.30. Spanish designer, one of the leading names in design and architectural design at international level, Patricia Urquiola The conference is open to the general public. Patricia Urquiola will be introduced by Cristina Morozzi.
Patricia Urquiola is one of today’s most famous, internationally popular designers. She was born in Oviedo, Spain and now lives and works in Milan. She worked at Achille Castiglioni’s office between 1990 and 1992. From 1990 to 1996 she was responsible for new product development at De Padova and created several objects in collaboration with Vico Magistretti. Between 1993 and 1996 she also dedicated herself to the architectural design of showrooms, restaurants and shops. In 1996 she was appointed head of the Lissoni Assiciati design group. In 2001 she opened her own studio for product design, architecture, installations and concept creation. Urquiola has designed successful collections for, among others, Moroso, Driade, Kartell, B&B, Alessi, Flos, Rosenthal, Foscarini.
DesignTalks is the international lecture programme promoted by Scuola Politecnica di Design SPD to explore the most interesting research trends in design, architecture, graphic and multimedia. The integration of different media, between design and technologies, research and professional practice will be central to the meetings that will continue until September 2010. Among the invited guest for the 2010 edition of the conference programme: Pierre di Sciullo, Ji Lee di Google Labs, Susan Sellers di 2X4, Luna Maurer, Cristina Chiappini, Giorgio Oliviero di ToDo.
