Superstudiopiù – Spazio Monica Armani
from 10th to 15th April 2002
Interferenze, or Interferences, is a multimedia area created by the Scuola Politecnica di Design for the Milan Furniture Exhibition, and is also the title of the video that is to be presented there. It is a collective work produced by students following SPD Master’s and Basic courses, and has been conceived as a showcase for their creative skills. Theatre: the Superstudiopiù in Via Tortona 27, from 10th to 15th April in the Spazio Monica Armani, an emerging young designer with whom the School has set up an interesting working relationship.
The video has been produced by the entire school, 200 students from all around the world, and is a creative investigation into the meaning of design expressed through sounds, words and images. The work is a blend of different languages and takes up the concepts behind the inspiration for Monica Armani’s work: concept, imagination, connection, precision. A curious, at times irreverent and ironic zap through scenes such as a lesson by Munari to a dancing bear. Fragments of the lives of young designers who sometimes by chance or unforeseen associations – the interferences of the title – manage to achieve their own creative order and meaning.
The SPD display area is highly dynamic with the Interferenze video at its centre. There will also be the chance to be among the first visitors to the school’s new, highly informative web site. And finally, four monitors will present the work carried out by the students in the two areas of Visual Design and Product-Interior Design.
The Interferenze project is the result of the coming together of the work of Monica Armani and that of the Scuola Politecnica di Design, united by the universal design values they share: functionality, essentiality, soul, attention to people.
