On Monday 21 July Simone Micheli gave a presentation at SPD to close the 2014 edition of the DesignTalks series. The conference was introduced by Ali Filippini, journalist, critic and Design History professor of the Master in Industrial Design. In his energetic talk, Simone Micheli summarised under the meaningful title of Past present and future, his body of works encompassing over three decades from the first commissions to the most recent and prestigious works worldwide. His career has taken him in multiple directions: architecture and interior design, industrial design and visual communication. With offices based in Florence, Milan and Dubai, his firm has carried out numerous projects for local government bodies and major private patrons active in residential and community building. Micheli’s designs are characterized by a strong sense of graphic identity and uniqueness. Among his recent international awards the TrE Number One Award 2011 for interior design (Italy); the Contemporary Spa Award 2011 in the category Best Future Spa (Italy), the International Design Award 2008 in the category Interior Design (USA), the Interior Designer of the Year at the International Design Award 2008 (USA), the Best of Year 2010 in the category Beauty, Spa and Fitness, award organized by Interior Design Magazine (USA). The lecture by Simone Michele closes the 2014 edition of DesignTalks, the international lecture programme created by Scuola Politecnica di Design SPD to showcase ideas and research trends from different disciplines in design, architecture, graphic and multimedia. Starting from March 2014 the guest speakers for this edition have been: Luciano Peroni, Andreas Gysin, Luca Pitoni, Paolo Tassinari, John Walters, Peter Bilak, Matteo Ragni, Ico Migliore, Setsu Ito, Denis Santachiara, Simone Micheli.
