Three SPD students from the Master’s in Visual Design are the winners of‘Design the style: giving shape to the head of the new millennium.
The contest was promoted by Nivea Hair Care Styling, the family of hair care products from Nivea aimed at the young people. The competition challanged students from the major Italian design schools: besides SPD, Domus Academy and IED Istituto Europeo di Design. The task proposed was to interpret the theme of the hairstyle as a sort of trademark to express one’s personality or symbolize his own work. The black pageboy hairstyle of famous French designer Matali Crasset clearly perfectly represents this trend, emerging among creative people.
SPD projects, coordinated by Paolo Iabichino, creative director of Ogilvy One and teacher of advertising at SPD, Scuola Politecnica di Design was awarded the first, the second and even the third price with the works of, respectively, Francesca Spiller si è aggiudicata il primo premio (nell’immagine), Milan Hansel and Anna Vives. Ana Nieto Mocholì‘s design earned one of the four honourable mentions. All the different works bring design on the human body, reinventing the head in particular as a new territory for creativity. They arise from thoughts or even provocative reflections on the world around us, so that every head becomes a something like a billboard, full of meaning and messages sometimes alarming.
The jury was composed by important representatives from design and fashion fields – Elio Fiorucci, Gianluigi Paracchini, Harry Schumacher (Matteo Thun design firm), Cristina Morozzi, contest coordinator – along with Nivea managers. Winners were announced during a cerimony held on thursday night, April 6th at P35 Press Point in the Via Tortona Fuorisalone area. The event was presented by la Pina and followed by a dj set.
The works awarded will be on show until Monday 10th at the Press Point in via Tortona 35, Milan
. In the next months they will also reach a even wider audience thanks to special labels and packages of Nivea hairstyle products.
