At the end of the 2012-2013 Transportation and Car Design Master’s degree show held yesterday, 9 December 2013 at SPD, the representatives from Volkswagen Group Design met twenty incoming students that just begun their Master’s and launched two new research themes to be developed in the new academic year. The task was assigned in the framework of the MovingMilan project, a long-term collaboration agreement between the school and the leading German group. The new sponsored projects to be presented at the 13-14 degree show in December 2014, are supported by Volkswagen and Seat in addition to the ongoing Lamborghini competition.
The Volkswagen project was kicked off with a briefing held by Alessandro Dambrosio, Head of Interbrand Projects at Volkswagen Konzern. The Seat assignment was presented by Jorge Diez, exterior chief designer with the assistance of Julio Lozano, senior designer, both from the Seat team.
The brief calls for open top or convertible solutions and maximum 4 meter-long electric vehicles. These are the only mandatory guidelines to be shared by all the participants. In the next months they will have to spare no effort in trying to conceive a design that interprets the different personality of each brand in a truly convincing way.
