8/4: DESIGNTALKS. CZECH DESIGN ON STAGE

DesignTalks returns with a meeting with Najbrt graphic design firm, from Prague. At SPD on Tuesday, April 8th from 18.30.

The third DesignTalks lecture will explore the young Czech design. Mikulas Machacek, senior partner of Najbrt graphic design studio, will present a unique collection of innovative corporate design projects, book designs, exhibition projects, poster designs. Established in 1994, Najbrt graphic design firm has constantly developed his activities carving out a special position for itself well beyond the Czech border. Among his various works, Najbrt created the visual identity of the city of Prague (2002), of Karlovy Vary Film Festival (since 1995) and of the exhibition 100 Czech Design Icons, held at Milan Triennale in 2006.

Recently Najbrt also launched the MojeMoje brand manufacturing and providing limited edition items such as books, accessories and fashion apparels. In 2007 the most interesting works by Najbrt studio were collected in their Life Happiness Surprise book with a preface of Rick Poynor.

Design Talks is the series of lectures by international designers organised by Scuola Politecnica di Design. The programme explores the most interesting research trends in contemporary design. The integration of different media, between design and technologies, research and professional practice will take center stage during the meetings. The next DesignTalks guests will be Erik Kessels from the Dutch agency KesselsKramer (May 28th) and Dimitri Bruni from Norm (June 5th).

The second part of the programme will concentrate on the design of product, spaces and experiences with Ross Lovegrove, Fernando and Humberto Campana, Matali Crasset and Martì Guixé with the introduction ofCristina Morozzi.
