  • Using the help function and online guides.
  • Scene creation: overview of tools and actions.
  • Display modes: axes and coordinates.
  • Perspective, orthographic views.
  • Creating objects: NURBS, primitives and polygonals
  • Display modes. Using axes and grids.
  • Modifying objects: transformation tools. Manipulators, axes, pivots; moving, scaling and rotating objects. Using Hyper graph function.
  • Object editing: select modes for cancelling, duplicating, grouping, creating instances and hierarchies. NURBS and polygonal modelling.
  • Use of layers.
  • Deformers
  • Light, shade and materials settings. Texture mapping. HyperShade rendering options.
  • Basic animation concepts: keyframes, curves, trajectories; various animation techniques. Graphs
  • Editors
  • Personalising Maya interface. Setting options and preferences.
  • Using editors: General, Component, Relationship, Attribute.
